We'd like to take the opportunity to welcome you to this reference area of The FITS Foundation.

FITS was initially funded by Becta but with the change of Government in May 2010 there have been major cuts in funding for ICT in Education and FITS has fallen into that category.

As a result we now need to fund the ongoing development and support of FITS here at The FITS Foundation. Regrettably, this has meant that we now need to make a small charge for access to the FITS guidance in order to support the cost of maintaining FITS and developing it in the future.


We have many plans in the pipeline that your funding support will bring to fruition and provide our members with excellent value for money. We will provide more information on these initiatives as we develop them over the coming weeks.

If you are not currently a member you will find that when you attempt to access member only content you will be asked to login or join. Please take the opportunity of joining us in our vision to improve the quality of technical support in schools and provide a clear career path for technicians through our examinations.

If you signed up in the past and now find that you do not have access, it will be because access is only being activated for those members who have completed a FITS course and examination and as such get free access to the content for the first year after sitting the examination.

This is the part of website where you will find the detailed FITS guidance relating to each of the processes and to the different types of educational establishments that benefit from operating FITS.

We have tried to make the links easy to follow so that you can access the information you need in the shortest time possible. If you feel that we can make some changes to the site that will improve your user experience, please let us know - we want to hear from you.

Some of the links to the processes down the right side of this page open up into several sub-links within them. For example, the Operations Management link includes links to several other processes and so does Change Management. Try clicking on these links to see what sub-processes are included there.
